Strengthening SME Cyber Resilience: Highlights from Our Cyber Awareness Month Event
As part of Cyber Awareness Month 2025, we at Forus-P Cyber Security, in collaboration with the County Wexford Chamber, were proud to host a free, expert-led Cyber Security for SMEs event on October 23rd, at GreenTech HQ, Enniscorthy.
The morning brought together business owners, managers, and professionals, all eager to better understand today’s cyber risks and learn how to protect their organisations. The session delivered practical insights, real-world examples, and actionable steps to boost cyber resilience, no matter the size or budget of the business.
Empowering SMEs Through Knowledge
The event was led by our Co-CEOs, Eveline van Manen and Dafna Peters, who shared their expertise on the evolving threat landscape Irish SMEs are facing and the simple, cost-effective measures that can make a real difference in preventing cyber incidents.
We were also joined by an excellent line-up of guest speakers:
- The CEO of Holos Skincare, who delivered a compelling real-life case study on experiencing and overcoming a cyber incident.
- A representative from the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau (GNCCB), who offered valuable insights into how Irish SMEs can engage with law enforcement and respond effectively to cybercrime.
Key Takeaways
Throughout the session, we explored:
- The top cyber threats currently targeting Irish SMEs
- Common misconceptions that leave businesses vulnerable
- The tactics cybercriminals use against smaller organisations
- Real-life recovery lessons from Holos Skincare’s experience
- Practical steps to take if you’ve been hacked
- How the GNCCB supports Irish businesses
- Low-cost, high-impact actions to reduce human error and build resilience
The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where attendees discussed their own experiences and concerns, making it a truly interactive and insightful event.
