Application Security Test

Application Security Testing is a manual or structured process used to identify weaknesses in a system or application. The approach is defined in advance and focuses on finding security flaws before they can be exploited. In a vulnerability assessment, the goal is to discover as many vulnerabilities as possible within a limited scope or area of the system. This differs from a penetration test, where the objective is to go as deep as possible into the system to understand the potential impact of exploiting vulnerabilities.
